Standard

Easter is almost here, and for those of you who gave up alcohol for Lent, this springtime cocktail is for you. Cheers.

We must admit, this recipe is pretty simple, and you probably don’t really need any instructions. But for those of us who can’t even chop an onion without reading directions (you caught us), recipes are necessary for pretty much everything edible or drinkable.

You might be thinking, “it’s a cocktail, just throw everything in a pitcher and mix it together,” but this recipe does call for a small amount of cooking, as you’ll have to make a simple syrup.

Ok the sooner we stop talking, the sooner we start drinking. So let’s get to it.

PS. Thanks to Gimme Some Oven for this super easy recipe! Seriously, go check them out.

WHAT YOU NEED

Lavender Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh lavender buds (yes non-green thumbs, you can find this at Whole Foods)

Lavender Lemonade

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from actual lemons)
  • 1 cup lavender simple syrup that you just whipped up
  • 1 cup champagne (or more… who are we to judge?)

WHAT YOU DO

Lavender Simple Syrup

  • Toss the ingredients into a medium saucepan and stir together
  • Bring to a boil over medium high heat
  • Keep stirring until all the sugar is dissolved
  • Remove from heat and pop in the fridge — the syrup needs to cool and set before added to the drink

Lavender Lemonade

  • Be patient and wait for the simple syrup to cool
  • After waiting for what seems like an eternity, stir all ingredients together until they’re combined
  • Fill your glasses with ice and top ’em off
  • Drink!

A STEP FURTHER

Whatever you may have given up for Lent (even if that means you just simply gave up), you finally made it! Easter is a few days away and you lasted a whole 40 days without alcohol, sweets, snacks, Netflix…you name it.

So when a loved one asks you what you want for Easter, let yourself indulge and ask for a foodie gift card that will make your taste buds happy, whether you prefer salty, sweet, or boozy.

Hey, we all have our preferences.
