Because Leo doesn’t deserve to finally give his acceptance speech to you sitting on the couch with a face mask and baggy PJs on.
He deserves all the glitz and all the glamour. Which is why we’re showing you how to take your Academy Awards party from Doritos and Stella, to heels and themed cocktails.
If you’re hosting a formal, glamorous Oscars viewing party, a simple “come over @6” text will not do. Instead, send invites that fit the occasion. Send your guests an evite in the form of an e-gift card with a video message! Not only are the gift cards following the dress code, but they also serve as a virtual gift bag for party attendees. And as you know, all good awards shows have gift bags.

Elevate the menu beyond microwavable popcorn and half-empty bottles of wine. Instead, go for gourmet popcorn (we love Just Pop In’s boozy dark chocolate popcorn made with Sun King Brewery’s famous pale ale) and a themed cocktail, like The Fig Reveal from Cocktail Courier — such a theme appropriate name! And lastly, step up your hostess game with monogrammed Lucite coasters and serving trays. The actors and actresses aren’t eating off of paper, so why should you?
Campfire Crunch $9 | Sun King Dark Chocolate Osiris $9 | Caramel Popcorn $5 | Indy Style Mix $5 | The Fig Reveal Cocktail $4.49 per cocktail (12 per order) |
Golden Girl Drink Coasters $85 | Golden Girl Lucite Tray from $80
The Dress Code
All the nominees and presenters will be draped in gowns straight off the FW16 runways, and we all want an excuse to dress up from time to time, so treat your party as a chance to get fancy. Go for glamour with a full-on Old Hollywood theme, or ask your guests to dress up in red in honor of the biggest red carpet event of the year.
The Grand Finale
Whether it’s an award for best dressed, most nominated movies actualllyseen this year, or best seven layer dip (we would win this one, hands down), show your party guests some love by handing out mini Oscars of your own! We like this brass peace sign from Jayson Home because it’s less formal — and way more our style — than the Oscar statue, and your guests can put it to good use after the party as an accent piece on their desk, book shelf, coffee table, etc. Or if you’d like to go a little less literal — and save on the cash — you can simply write the awards on a piece of paper and announce the winners at the end of the night. Just try not to pull a Steve Harvey.
